Trust the Child

Do not say I am only a youth

I am a child that is the truth

Do not assume that while I am young

I live upon life’s ladder’s lowest rung

Do not think that by me being just a child

Cancels the line between treatment horrid and mild

We children live on, make the next generation

Before pushing us aside, take it in consideration

The youth must feel empowered to create and not attack

Think of this before you push us, turn, and give your back

The youth is what the society fears

As they will take charge in the upcoming years

We are underestimated, we even give you fear

Your thoughts of violence make you shed a tear

Maybe more than one or two tears flow

While we must choose what to build and grow

What we may do, breakdown, kill, and destroy

You think we treat the world like a childhood toy

You never give us credit for the good that we may do

We may turn out evil encouraged with words spoken by you

What you must do is trust our youth

Because we will take charge, that is the truth
