The Fabric of Family

I will not become spun

on this spool of spoiling;

I will unravel myself

before your undoing.

Although my strength of

character causes tears

in the cloth of our family,

I will mend the holes.

I will become a garment

worth noticing and admiring,

for my texture will be

smooth and unknotted.
