Beyond Meaning

Who is one to judge a man who has followed his heart;

Who has followed his head;

Who has gone into the very depths of his soul and come back again;

Who has offered to drink less of the lethe then other souls.

He is the one who alternates between psychic realities as if they were pages of a book;

And he finds meaning in each and every one;

But meaning has lost it's sweet fragrance as it is revealed to be the final illusion;

And it is now experienced as it is.

"Alast," cries he, "make use of yourself and serve the world! If not the world, then yourself!"

"Hark thee," he responds, "if I were to say that I have not done so then I should be sent to the gallows and hung for treason against myself and my kind. But the meaning that expression used to bring now wears thin; service to mankind is an honour and a virtue that I have the pleasure of doing; communicating with spirit has become a stale activity; and my own body has experienced more than I could ever have imagined. But one must not mistake meaning for anything other than what it is, and one must know that service to mankind is just as it is, and one must know that spirit has but one message, and once one has heard the message he has died, and he no longer serves himself or his kind, because spirit has removed these duties from him."

"Bold words, man," he shouts, "how can you claim meaning to be anything less than the pinnacle of a man's existence?"

"And so it is! If man had no meaning he would not be alive; if man had no meaning then expression would be hallow and tasteless; if man had no meaning then service would not be service, it would be displeasure; if man had no meaning then he would never know to travel the deepest and darkest realms of what is just to extract it! But bear with me, for spirit has given me more meaning then any other man alive; long did I have it in my grasp, long was my being vital with meaning and long was my pinnacle obtained, long have I lived through meaning and experienced it's sweet nectar when I listened to my spirit; but hark thee once more when I say that spirit has taken away the veil that stays with most of mankind; spirit has shown me trust, virtue, truth, honor, history, innovation, and meaning as separate before, but which are now one in the same, for as each are different and pursued wholeheartedly by mankind they perhaps obtain the understanding of one branch of the entire oak tree; do not misunderstand me when I see that spirit has shown me the entire tree for what it is, and has told me that I am to no longer experience meaning as the pinnacle of my soul but to experience all as it is beyond meaning."

"You speak the truth, and I seek more knowledge for my developing spirit."

"Knowledge leads to truth, which leads to history, which leads to honor, which leads to virtue, which leads to trust, which leads to innovation, which leads to meaning. One cannot simply trancend this by hearing it explained to him; instead he must be willing to listen to spirit and heed it's voice. For some, this never happens; for others later in life; for others, sooner. For some, they drank too much of the river and are destined to live in the lowest perspective of all mankind. For some, they drank too little of the river, and only have destiny until they trancend the meaning behind it. Most drink just enough and have the chance to find and live in meaning for the rest of their days, never suspecting that there may be a realization beyond this state of being. Beyond meaning is not the realization of self; that is only an illusion. Beyond meaning is not a place, even in the psychological infinity; it is the last realization, where the perspective is fully realized, and meaning is shown for what it really is."

"And so what is meaning?"

"Meaning is beyond magic; it is beyond all truths, all honor, all virtue, all trust, all history, and all innovation. Meaning is known to most to be the pinnacle that must obtained at all cost, and is the highest form of being to most. It is ultimate harmony, pleasure and pain, light and dark; it is."

"Surely nothing can be more than what you have just described."

"What happens when the flame of a candle has burned down the entire wick, good man? What happens when meaning has been and when it has run it's course? Surely this never happens for most men; but spirit spares some and they live in a body with no meaning before or ahead of them. They have been given a blessing; to be beyond meaning, to see a third contestant in the battle between light and dark, one that is merely of perspective and has nothing to do with light and dark in and of itself; however, without the battle of perspectives the great dualities could not been realized by some and thought of as preposterous by others. Spirit has been kind enough to give me the perspective that is beyond meaning, and I may now live or die as I please with no consequence to myself or others."

"You speak of some thing very strange." Meaning is certainly my pinnacle to be obtained, and spirit will not be so kind as to show me what you have described."

"What tremendous insight! But do not be discouraged, for meaning is for everyone, even those who trancend it."

"Indeed this is so. I must go now, as my spirit is more developed then it seemed to be before. I thank you from my heart."
