when a child like mind
learns a new word
sets out;
determined;
proud;
check thrust out
strutting like a rooster
and like a toddler
wobbling to walk
they show off their new word
“Mommy! Mommy!
I learned a new word.”
The ‘nein’ across the eyes
is my reward.
