I was wishing

to unfold the petals

of your soul

and fathom 

the depths

of your heart

but alas

time has passed

and time has come

to recognize

that it is not to be

though the argument

could be made that it was

probably something

that was meant to be

but we were both

too utterly stupid

to realize it.
