The Universe

Rants

Just how big is the universe?

Think of it like this: We have our sun. Our sun is a star. With just our sun we have a galaxy. It is called the Milky Way. In this galaxy rests Nine planets.

At night, do any of you look up into the sky at the stars? Do any of you attempt to count them? I have.

And then it hit me. The sun is a STAR. This means, that each of these stars in the sky hold their own galaxy of planets. And we can't even see most of the stars in the sky!

People tell me they don't believe there is other life out there. That is something I cannot understand. The milky way has nine planets, like I said. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. On these nine planets, earth is the only planet to harbor living organisms. But - scientists have found that we can grow plants in the soil of mars, leading us to believe that MAYBE mars held living beings.

But this is not the point. The point I am trying to get across is this: With all those galaxies out there, how can we possibly say 'for sure' that there's no other intelligent life out there?

I'll tell you why. Because of religion. If all the sudden 'Aliens' were to land or have contact with humans, religions would collapse, and entire faiths would be destroyed.

There's the motive. And you wonder why people believe in the 'Men in Black'. I wouldn't be surprised if they DID exist.

Anyways. Back on the subject.

I'm not really sure why I wrote this. I suppose I just wanted to get it out of my head. It's been in there for a long time, you know. Just like my other rants.

...The universe is big. :) That was my point.
