Jesus, I want to wear your crown of thorns

for I am the one who was a sinner since I was born

I want the thorns from the vine

to rip into my head this time

I am the one that deserves to wear it

I am the one that it should fit

you deserved a crown of gold to wear

yet accepted a crown of thorns to bear

you do not deserve to wear it on your head

so Jesus, could I wear it for you instead?
