so I gave up those baskets
football baseball games
She came from out of left field
mini skirt high heel boots
hair teased up
like a scared cat telling me. She
had something she knew I’d like,
and then my childhood was over.
I was on that next playing field
doing what I had to do
to kept her happy
and interested in only me
