Very few love me for what I am:
A humane human being.
Very few know the real me:
And very few are understanding
To try to understand me.
Why call a woman a bitch?
Why call a man a donkey?
The she-dog is faithful and loyal
And loads burden the donkey!
We -- or most of us -- love to
Use vile and insulting names
To describe our fellow mortals
It may be me or you.
I watched the golden sunset
From a high hill top and found
That while it gets dusky here
On the other side light abounds.
In this age when nothing matters
So far as goodness is concerned
You, O my true poet friends!
Can save those who are spurned
By the so-called civilised people
Your words can spread peace, love
And make even the high sky bow.
