LIKE EMILY?

Butterflies and bees,
Are beautiful in flight,
And twinkling gold stars,
Are jewels of black night.
There's no friend around,
To share spring with me,
Am I doomed to be lonely,
Like the poetess Emily*?
Oh yes, God is with me,
My sole consolation,
But even Adam needed Eve,
To give him company.
Scattered the world over,
Are all my best friends,
I am left to my own self,
And preserve my sanity.
