Even tonight
Like many nights before
Many folks will not be able to sleep
Because of hunger, worry and grief.
Even tonight
Many a weaning baby will weep
For milk clutching her mother's breasts.
Even tonight
Many men will commit suicide
For not being able to make ends meet.
And Obama will say:
"We are on the path of change!"
It will sound quite strange indeed
As with all his presidential powers
And the resources under his control
He cannot end his nation's miseries
Of poverty, destitution, apathy!
If this is how powerfully powerless
The president of the USA is
Then what can those clowns
That blow his trumpets of greatness do?
Naveed, come, let's seek wisdom and sanity
Inside the tavern of my blessed Saqi.
Let us not be fooled
By the likes of Obama and all those
Who love to rally around him
Like the tailors who
Hovered around the mythical emperor
Who loved to walk and roam sans clothes...
My Lush Lily
May disagree with me
But for now it is the tavern I seek
And a few sweet goblets of wisdom
Poured just for me by my Saqi.
