Jesus Christ, the son of Mary
May God's peace be upon him said:
"Man doth not live on bread alone."
Yet I see those who say they believe in him
And take pride in calling themselves Christians
That they want to live by bread alone.
The craving to satisfy spiritual hunger
Exists no more
Nor does the desire to rise above the material self
Excite us to "rise above to heaven"
Just like the great prophet of God did.
The red rose remains as blood-red
And sweet is its scebt
As it was more than two centuries ago.
The city of Jerusalem and the teachings
As related by his disciples in "The Gospels"
Are still far too enlightening
For those minority of men, women and children
Who rise above their pangs of hunger
And do not live on bread alone...
Jerusalem has lost the spirit
That made it so sacred and holy
As every day I see people
Killing their neighbours
For they now only remember
The Satanic lure to live and kill
For what?
For bread alone...
