BREAKING A VOW (Translation of a ghazal)

It looks like I may with my blood give dawn to life

By bringing home the Delilah* who was once my wife.

For several years I sought the oasis of love,

And ended up dead tired near a mangrove.

With me is a tincture mixed in wine goblets

Lo! Come ye all and with me drown sorrow.

No Naveed, I wouldn't have returned to this tavern,

But to heal my heart I was forced to break my vow.

Author's Notes/Comments:

*DELILAH: THE WOMAN WHO PROFESSED HER LOVE FOR SAMSON AND DECEIVED HIM...AS MENTIONED IN THE BOOK OF JUDGES OF THE HOLY BIBLE. HERE IT REFERS TO MY EX-WIFE.
