TO NOOR JAHAN

It is a blessed night of Ramadan,

It is the Night of Peace,

The "Melody Queen" is dead,

May her soul live in peace!

For years did her songs rule,

The hearts and minds of people,

For generations they will rule,

The memories that are loyal.

Where are you O queen?

Your songs still regale us,

In the star-studded firmament,

You shine with the great ones.

After a thousand years,

singers like you appear,

To move us with your sweet voice,

Then, quietly disappear.
