They say this love is a sign of weakness
a promise that faded away, stolen by the darkness,
Love softens your heart, you may lose your case,
I say, did you win any other ways?
They say be so careful when opening love door,
It might change you. I say I opened my heart.
How sure are you they will leave the same way the entered?
For love I made it through the thorny way.
They say don’t extend with peace your hand
I say the first three words I learned
“Salam allah alykum” “Peace Upon You”
I hope this fact you do understand,
They say you stated once,
“your head you won’t bend’
I say it for injustice;
For love I am as tall as my front head
They say do you think you’re writing poems,
I say I am not a poet, nor a good writer,
I am a baker baking fresh bread
from the oven of my heart for my hungry children
They say your children have forgotten this taste
They cannot believe it still exists
I say I trust with all my heart that simple things,
would make all the difference
When nations with love and hope had survived
They say you've lost your chances, broken your bridges
I say they were weak to start with,
from the weight of barriers
We will rebuild strong ones by our love
They say why you care too much for who deserted you,
You cannot see how much they hated you
I say you have no idea how much love I have seen
It does not brother me, when Love outweights hate
They say don’t speak this language-it sound like children
I say, did you hear how powerful children cry?
Praying for safe mornings,
Scared from their own shadows,
When this suffering you did not try
You have no idea the extend of a child's cry.
