Down is an understatement, when you feel the way I do today
I feel the pain of all, along with my own which now seems trite
The motherless child, the father not allowed in the child’s life
Make my broken heart break a little more in a different way
I feel for the man with the sign, “will work for food”
He too has a story, a mother, and memories sure of a better life
Possibly a broken heart, a child not able to see, or a disgruntled wife
For him too, this heart bleeds, sets me in a more than down mood
For the baby left in abandonment, on a cold nights doorstep
I feel the pain of all concerned, makes me know how much I’m blessed
For these tragedies are ongoing existent always, some would never have guessed
So many more have pain much greater than I you see many mothers have silently wept
All I can offer for the ones in turmoil and in a bad way
Are my prayers to God that the pain and tragedy will cease to be
All I can offer, is to ask that he touch their life as he has touched me
And I know he hears all prayers, each and every one, have faith in his grace, and is all that I unto you …can say
