She stood in the hotel hallway
Knocking at the door
Was he to answer?
Three in the morning
She’d driven through the snow
“Please open the door” her voice crackled
Into the lobby phone, now flowed through
His mind, As David Gray sang, “Say Hello, Wave Goodbye”
In the background
He opened the door, listened half-heartedly to the “I’m sorry’s”
“Please forgive me’s”, stone cold heart awaited her
and as the tears began to flow, and as she said “I’ve messed this up too”
he arose and kissed her tears away,
And after the touch…he would love her…again
