Erosion Of The Soul
Step back in time
in my mind
for a moment
heaven sent
memories are free
they come easily
conquer and divide
inside
Was love ever true?
Same for me as it was for you?
Guess we’ll never know
for the erosion of the soul
has evaded the answer
caused the dancer
to forget the steps
amnesia from the depths
of his mind
causes him to forget
love
Time cannot erase
spoken words of haste
or how I still feel
Once said to me
If you love something
set it free
and it would come back to me
Yet love, the wounds may heal
and heaven among the stars
knows this true may be real
Yet love, I still see the scars
left behind
Tell me love
What does an empty heart feel?
Who among us can say
that heartbreak will someday
surely go away?
And when will
hopes be raised
that won’t fly away
For who among us
really does know?
that love can return
rebound
relive to love again
live again,
When
one has faced, learned to embrace
the loneliness left…by the erosion…of the soul
