Down His Path
Troubles of insignificance
posture and pose to my heart
they vie for my attention
each trying to get the lead part
I reflect on past transgressions
of honest love that had misguided hurt
and think of again how none of this matters
when your six foot under the dirt
I make myself pause to count my blessings
kiss my child’s head and say a prayer
an ode to the Lord above
for this there are no second guessing
as he has shown me so much love
The sadness I feel this day
is inner, cannot be shared or said
and I know that God will have His say
down his path I ask to be led
And to all the nay-sayers and doubters
I’ll pray for them, just the same
that someday they are amongst the shouters
that they too will come to Him, in Jesus’ name
Thank you oh thank you Lord
for all the love you’ve shown
and may I say
they’ll come a day
when to all your name...will be known
Amen
