A Child Weeps

Vengeance is for God, and that I know

But the rage within me burns hotter than the flames of hell

And if I could bring wrath unto you, I would

Torture you in unimaginable ways

Until you beg for mercy

Then I would laugh in face, as I hold up a picture of the girl you violated

Because how could you hurt her?

Did your not see the innocence in her eyes?

When you decided to break her

Leaving marks on her body that will never heal

Did her cries not matter to you

A little girl

The most precious of God's creation

Did you not feel guilty for the grave sin you committed?

Now a child weeps for the childhood she has lost.

Because you decided to be a monster instead of the Protector she derserved

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this poem because of a story of a 7 year old girl who was raped at school in South Africa.

I want this also to be seen as awareness for other child rape survivors.
