We never thought that this day would come

Vultures circling overhead as dying doves collapse from the opaque sky

We don’t know where we’re going and we forgot where we came from

But I don’t want to keep playing “follow the leader” until the day that I die



We’re losing more and more daylight with each passing day

So all I ask from you is to please be my compass just for tonight

Point your arms straight towards the sun and lead me the right way

Shine some rays of redemption and hope on upon my forgotten face…make them burn and make them bright



The enemy has left me weak and wounded from resistance

But we will never fall as long as we stand up for what we believe in

I will find the strength to carry on no matter how long the distance

Dethrone and triumph over the champions when the dark horses can finally celebrate a win

Anything is possible when I have your assistance

And with each footstep forward, we can throw more of our poisoned past away

There’s hope on this hazardous path of persistence

And I will lead the way

They warned us that this day would come

Bombs falling overhead as corrupted crops grow from a tainted garden in the ground

We don’t know when this will ever end and we can’t remember when it even begun

But I’m sick of strident screams of shotguns being the only sound



The nights are getting longer and colder all the time

So all I ask from you is to please ignore the white flags waving all around, because I don’t want us to give in and quit

We forever run this come full circle relay race in frantic figure eights while searching for an invisible finish line

And let us hope that when you pass the torch to me, that is stays lit



The opponent has made me feeble and fragile from resistance

But dominos will never collapse as long as they don’t let others push them down

I will find the strength to carry on no matter how long the distance

The underdogs can finally sit high atop their noble chairs as soon as we kill the king and take his crown

Anything is possible when I have your assistance

And with each giant leap, the long awaited end becomes less far away

There’s lights shining on this perilous path or persistence

So don’t go astray
