Long ago
Comets crashed into the Earth
Like sperm penetrating an egg
Giving the planet
Amniotic waters
Air and nutrients
To nourish the child
Of which we are each a cell
Heaven awaits us after our birth
But humanity gnaws on the cord
And kicks at the walls
Of our terrestrial womb
Like a suicidal fetus
Too busy killing our mother
Killing ourself
To reach beyond this plane
To know what could be
