Down the river I have came
By reed and blowing sail
To a land I did not seek
From a place I once called home
But home is far behind me
I cannot turn back now
And I have tried to reconcile
But I am so far gone
Take me back to calmer seas
When storms where far from here
Bring me on to the western shore
To the hills I know so well
To the boys from bells country
I have no time to dice
Furthermore I look out for
The left out farmers meal
I have claimed injustice
And I have been balked down
I have scratched to the highest top
And I have saw the northern side
To the hilltop I do yearn for now
In these days of bitter snow
High above the raging storm
To feel the sun in my face again
