Seeing Beyond Tomorrow

If I could only see beyond tomorrow,

   I might change the things I do today;

What things I see as most important,

   may cause me to stumble along the way.

Today, to me, may be all consuming,

   and yesterday I may forget;

But tomorrow, not acknowledged true,

   has crept upon me as I slept.

It has introduced me to new sorrows,

   of all the things I could have done;

The goals not gained and riches lost,

   and heavens gate I never won.

Dreaming dreams will prove your greatest hope

   of experiences yet to be,

Of goals achieved and riches won

    and glories yet to see.

Though many of the mistakes of yesteryear

   may bring you untold sorrow,

don’t let the evening close about you

   without thinking about tomorrow.
