I WENT OVER TO RALPH'S HOUSE,
JUST THE OTHER NIGHT.
GOT OUT OF THE CAR,WENT IN THE HOUSE,
IN TIME TO SEE THE FIGHT.
NOW GERALDINE HAD THE FRYING PAN,
SHE HIT HIM BESIDE THE HEAD.
HE FELL ON THE COUCH,ROLLED ON THE FLOOR,
AND I THOUGHT THE MAN WAS DEAD.
BUT HE MUST HAVE GOT ALRIGHT.
FOR I SAW HIM YESTERDAY,
HE WAS HEADED OUT TO RACOON RUN,
SAYING " IS THAT YOU ALTON RAY"
NOW ALTON RAY WAS IN THE YARD,
PUTTING DOWN A TILE.
AND WHEN HE HEARD HIM HOLLAR,
HE BEGAN TO SMILE.
HE STARTED JUMPING UP AND DOWN.
AND SAID "OH WHAT A DEAL"
I'M GOING TO GET TO SEE MY FRIEND,
FROM DOWN AROUND MACKELSFIELD.
BUT WHEN HE SAW IT WAS OLD RALPH,
HIS LITTLE HEART DID BREAK,
RALPH SAID IF YOU WANT TO SEE HIM THAT BAD SON.
WE'LL GO BACK TO THE LAKE.
THEN RALPH JUMP IN AND HELPED ALTON RAY,
FINISH UP THE TILE.
AND WHEN ALL THE WORK,WAS FINALLY DONE.
THEY BOTH BEGAN TO SMILE.
FROM THIS DAY FORTH THAT FRAZE WILL LIVE.
NO MATTER WHAT PEOPLE SAY.
WE SHALL REMEMBER THE FUN WE HAD SAYING.
" IS THAT YOU ALTON RAY"
