SAME OLD LONELY ROAD

Folder:
COUNTRY POEMS

Yes, it's the same old game that with me, you decided to play.

  Your hand, me did guide.

It was a day in the beach sand.

     You, I though, did understand.

You, I thought would be different.

I was wrong, and now I am singing a blues song.

  It's the same old song.

In my head, there is a loud bong.

It's the same old lonely road.

You led me down a road.

I thought it would be a road to gold.

I thought it was going to be a different mold.

In the end, I felt cold.

Or I was going to melt in the desert heat.

Yep, that same game again had me beat.

In the end, the road had the same twists and curls.

A different road, but the same name.

It's the same old lonely road.

You led me to the road end.

A place where against the forces of love lost, I cannot defend.

A place where my heart does bleed, me is where you did lead.

A road that was winding.  A road that was blinding.

A road that I did not think would be reminding me, or rewinding me.

A road that I thought could excite and delight me.

          A road that frightened me.

It's the same old lonely road.

In my head and heart, I believe it was a new start.

I was deceived; I was not smart.

I was hit in the head by a dart, by a rabid animal bit.

It was the same game, with the same end.

It's the same old lonely road.

The road you led me down.

It just goes around and around and around.

I get lost and never found.

Is this going to get any better?

It is certainly not soft as a feather.

Caught in the rain, could not be any wetter.

All ends, they are getting me down.

Oh, it's the same old lonely road.

Yeah, it's the same old lonely road.
