ON THE ROAD IN AMERICA

Folder:
COUNTRY POEMS

Driving down the road in America.

And all I see looks the same,

I could been in Boston, Buffalo, Chicago, Detriot, Houston, Miami, Minneapolis, New York City, or anywhere.

New York City looks like Chicago

          Dallas looks like Detriot.

          I don't know where I am anymore.

          I don't care where I am anymore.

          Miami looks like Minneapolis

          Houston looks like like

All the malls, and office buildings.

          All the movie theaters

All the stores, all the apartment buildings.

All the cities, all the towns.

All the suburbs, all the farms.

          It all looks the same.

          All day.

          All night.

And everything I see, and everybody I see, reminds me

          of you.

          Reminds me of being home.

Seeing your smiling face to welcome me.

          or

Looking at your sleeping body next to me.

          makes me glad

I am off the road in America.
