SCHOOL PET ESSAY
I love bison, so I wanted to get a pet bison, so I did. I call him Thunder, because when a heard of bison run, that is what they sound like. He is big. He weighs 2,000 pounds, which is about 10 times what my dad weighs. He is long, 11 feet long. My dad is 6 feet tall. So, that is almost the distance of 2 of him, lying foot to head. Thunder is as tall as my dad as well. Finally, his tail and horns are really cool as well. I love just watching him.
I love to do things with Thunder. One of the things we do together is running. He is a very fast runner, and he
can always run faster than me. I love to feed him grasses, sedges, rushes, and forbs. He eats a lot, five times a day! One time I even saw him eating in the middle of the night!
I love to read books on bison. I love to watch movies on them. I love to look at pictures of them. I love to go to the Denver Zoo and see them. It is too bad that there are not more of them around. But, it is nice that some are protected.
Finally, I feel very lucky to have one as my very own pet. I have had cats, dogs, gerbils, hamsters, and fish, but I like bison the best. I think that having a bison is an experience that nobody should miss and that everybody should obtain one and bring him/her home.
