Eye's Blink
Witnessed in an eye's blink,
moment's retreat into the past.
Forever parted to realm of time,
a stint -- never to be recast.
Shade like night, days succumb,
darkened void consumes the dawn.
Tomorrow comes to certain end,
replaced by time that carries on.
Hours in follow never cede,
new beginnings hold no reign.
Each rise to fall once again,
all before -- to trail and wane.
Comes life's passing -- till ending still
to an abyss of pitch the ages flee
Their shadows become ancient dreams-
in an eye's blink -- it's what we see.
