Settler's Dream

History They set out in their wagon,
for a destination west.
To settle there in Kansas,
where they heard the land was best.
A young couple and their children,
dreamed of a better life.
He would have his crops,
and a garden for his wife.
Along their tiring journey,
they spoke of all their plans.
They couldn't wait to get settled,
to bring forth abundance from the land.
Starting out would be rough,
they knew there would be trials.
But with their faith they laid doubt to rest,
with each passing mile.
The mother looked at her children,
their faces filled with awe.
The little girl would work with Mama,
the two boys would work with Pa.
They would live in a new house,
and build a sturdy barn.
With a coop for Mama's chickens,
she would raise there on the farm.
After a few more days of travel,
their acres came into view.
They thanked the Lord for their safe passage,
and they saw their dreams come true.
