Sometimes I don’t get up
Sometimes I can’t get up
I look out into the day, I see what’s waiting for me
An endless parade of repetitive actions
Every Teacher, every student
Going through the motions
Day in day out
Go to class go to class
Get an education because that’s what life is about
That’s what we live for
Learn; learn from others, learn from your self
How am I supposed to learn in a beige coffin?
Staring at maps and graphs and pictures and literature and art
Reading it not living it
Stuck in this brick waiting room
Go to class go to class
There is nowhere but up
Go to class go to class
This is your time
It’s your turn to begin your life
Climb the ladder to success
You Learn
And Work
Make money
Have a family
And Die.
Because that’s what living is
Go to class go to class
I can hear my mother screaming at me
“If you want to work at zhers, live paycheck to paycheck, that’s fine, have a nice life”
What do I want to do when I grow up?
I want to create joy not spreadsheets
I want freedom not faculties
Because I don’t want to make money
I want to make Peace
I want to make love
And I want to make the world a better place
It has come to that time in my life where I have to choose a path
So i can choose education money, and happiness
Or I can choose nothing endless anything
My life my way
My opportunities my choices
Do I need to go to class?
The world is my oyster and I’m going to salt it and swallow it whole
But not yet
First I have to go to class
First I have to get up
