hundreds of miles away you are
oh, how I wish we could meet
but the distance between us is too far
to travel by bike or feet

I wish that we could share a moment
much like the one from long ago
you’re the reason I am a poet
the love I write about, only you know

you’re the reason I still love
and the reason I cry at night
the reason I cry to God above
and the reason in which I fight

I fight through the hopeless nights
and through the long days too
I’ll fight until that flight
will bring me home to you

I feel as if there’s been no time
between us through the years
the longing for you will always chime
as I fight back all the tears

and if we’re apart forever and ever
there’s one thing I want to say
no matter how much my heart shall sever
I’ll love you until my dying day.
