Lupine Dreams

LUPINE DREAMS

……….In dreams it seems

.I’ve often run

……….With wolves;

Capering to

…………….. a quiet stream

………………….complete with

………………reflecting pool.

………Each lupine wanderer

pausing in turn,

…………..to stare at

rippling reflection

……………….before

slaking thirst.

…………..But when I stare

………no image returns.

.………………..Water draws back..

……………Thirst continues

………….unabated until I wake:

…and continues still.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Really a poem about self-image inspired while Reading Robert Bly's, "Iron John."  The dream is a vehicle to explain what it is like to suffer from diminished self-image and codependency.

One of my better poems I believe.
