Joy - Not Happiness - Quadruple Nonet
For joy
We are meant,-
Not happiness,
It's far too shallow,
It depends on events
That are so ephemeral,
If things go my way,- I'm happy,
If they do not,- I am unhappy;
Which can fast become a nuisance,
Always rejoice in the Lord!
Depend not on events,
They are heralds of
Unhappiness,
Strive only
For pure
Joy
So says
Saint Francis
Is when they beat
And kick and punch you
When you look for shelter;
This the time to rejoyce
When they throw garbage on your head,
And drive you away with club and sticks
And pour the bed pan out on your head,
Then give praise and thanks in your joy,
For these free gifts and riches,
Most Gratefully accept
What Providence sends,
To be tasted
In true Joy,
Purest
Joy
Joy
Only
For great joy
Has God made you,
In His great design,
Before meeting His death
He said to His disciples:
“My Joy may be in you always,
So that your great Joy may be complete" *
The Lord truly spoke of Joy only,
But did not speak of happiness,
Which He thought unimportant;
Instead He promised Joy,
Joy everlasting,
Keep this in mind;
It is Joy!
