I CHASE ART

I chase art like they chase religion

The feminine urge to pursue

I searched for myself in puddles and clouds

They searched for experience through taboo

Guess we both wanted to taste something great

Frida painted herself and became an icon

Because self-veneration as a woman seemed new

Oh, how I kissed my shoulder after every prayer

A love so fresh, it might leave some confused

You watched me putting makeup on in the mirror

You saw a fantasy - surreal, I found a canvas - revealed

We craved different things. Perception skews

I was never her, merely a new suit perused

We borrow from forever, while skimming confessions

Here a secret, there a secret. Nothing feels true

We hold the sound of honesty, like a symphony

It plays as background music in moments of shower solitude

I can be art in any form. Darling, which would you choose?
