My plane lands, a smile on their faces as I break my long absence.
We go out for Mexican, Don Ramon, I had a large burrito.
Afterwards, we leave for the local market, Chuppa's, to buy burgers.
Waiting in line.
Waiting.
Waiting...
My leg slightly twitches.
Wait, what?
My leg twitches violently, I am forced to tap-dance.
No. What is this?
I walk a meter or so away.
My uncle stares at me with a panicked look upon his face.
Dude, what's wrong? Are you alright?!
My entire body spasms, I fall back into a cookie stand.
People are staring...
My uncle wraps his arms around me, and it all goes blank
Though I never lose consciousness.
My body won't stop convulsing. I get carried to the grass outside.
Sirens are in the distance, coming for me.
Courtesy of an off-duty nurse who happened to be nearby
My body has calmed.
They load me up in the back.
My uncle is with me, next to the gurney.
I am saying something, but I am not aware of it.
They rush me into the ER, Parma Hospital.
They place me in a room in the middle of the building.
I later found out that it was the same room my Grandfather died in.
Trying to stick the hardly awake me with an IV, it won't work yet.
I slowly come to, waking from a half hours’ nap.
Huh? Where am I?
The Parma General Hospital.
What happened?
My Grandma and uncle look at me with concern.
You've had a seizure. Grand Mal, to be exact.
They make me call a worried Mom, but I lack the energy or intelligence to have a conversation at this point
Uncle goes out for a smoke
Grandma goes out to chat with the doctor
The IV finally goes in.
Suddenly, there is an uprising within my stomach.
The Burrito. All over my Polo and khaki shorts.
The nurse isn't happy with me one bit.
What did you expect, anyway?
It's a miracle my bowel and bladder didn't also give way.
After cleaning up and changing into a patient's dress, my other grandparents show up.
My Grandma and uncle return.
At this point, I am nearly back to my old self.
I greet everyone, and proceed to crack jokes about my current situation
Heh, I'm such a spaz, huh?
I apologize.
I was supposed to surprise my little cousins at their baseball game, and then go to church with Uncle.
The doctor takes a little sample of my blood.
Clean.
The nurse comes in, threatening to insert a catheter.
I panic, and fill two of the urine jugs.
Clean.
Afterwards, they take me across the building for a cat scan.
I can walk mostly fine.
My beautiful brain is in mint condition.
The doctor doesn't fully understand.
If I am in perfect health, why would this happen?
I am returned to my room, and left with family.
I talk up a storm.
ER or no, I haven't seen these guys for months.
About an hour later, I am discharged.
A lighter wallet and no answers.
I am fine.
