I had just given up the search for Happiness and hope
They went long ago, and hadn't returned
I hadn't gazed upon their beauty for many years
But the morning the sun was up...

Alone with my own thoughts,
I heard someone singing a song
But nobody has come this way in so long
I rushed to the window and saw,
two figures in the morning sunlight

I ran outside, and was met with a surprise
Who was there before my eyes?
It was friends I had long since seen
haven't looked upon them since I was a teen

They approached me slowly
and I couldn't believe the scene
I walked up to them and gave hugs
grinning from ear to ear
Because my friends, Happiness and Hope, have returned!
