Lovesick Fairy.
Spirits are very low in Fairyland. A fairy boy is missing. No one has seen him for a few days. Search parties have looked all over Fairyland but no trace of the boy was to be found anywhere. Many thought that he had gone to find that what most Fairies are looking for especially when they are young. Love, others said that he had a sweetheart he would never have wandered off to look for love he had love here in Fairyland. Junefee had only eyes for him and she followed him everywhere hoping to catch a smile from him. Sometimes he touched her and that made her day and she was a very happy girl for a few hours.
News eventually reached Her Majesty that Junefee was suffering from love sickness. Her chosen boy friend had disappeared. This was serious and Her Majesty decided to help Junefee. Her first idea was to try to find the boy by using magic. On second thoughts she thought if the boy really loved Junefee he would come back to her. Weeks went by and poor Junefee got thinner and thinner her face whenever she spoke of her love was covered in tears.
Even the Wise Old Fairies had no idea of how they could help Junefee. They sent a few good looking young Fairy Boys to try to get her to forget her one love but it was no good she had no eyes for the boys no matter how handsome they were. Junefee was asked to do special things such as run errands or colour a strange flower but alas her mind was not on her work she pined for her boyfriend. “Where is he?” She was often heard to say. It was terrible no one it seemed could help her.
I had an idea and went to Her Majesty. “Your Majesty what if we took something belonging to the boy and placed it on your magic mirror perhaps we could then find out where the boy is.” Her Majesty was agreeable and I went to the cottage where the boy had lived and found a small card inviting the boy to go on holiday. The card was signed by Her Majesty. Taking the card to her Majesty I showed it to her. Her Majesty looked hard and long at the card I have never sent invitations to anyone, as you know Mr. Shaw, Either a royal proclamation or a royal decree is sent out when Fairies are invited to go on travel trips. This is indeed a forgery.
Taking her Magic mirror the card was placed onto it. Picture after picture was shown in the mirror, first a hand writing then the arm of the person writing. The final pictures showed the Wizard Mordleine. It was Mordleine that had sent the invitation. Then the boy came into view. He was chained with a long chain that allowed him to move around the cave where he was being held prisoner. He had to work for the Wizard. This I said to Her Majesty is a job for shamus and myself.
As I spoke Shamus appeared from out of nowhere. His words to me were. “Let us go we have work to do.” Taking my arm Shamus and I were travelling by magic. Suddenly we were in the cave. Shamus’s shillelagh took care of the Wizard and I freed the young Fairy boy. Then the travelling by magic and all three of us were back in Fairyland. Her Majesty had sent for Junefee and as we landed in front of Her Majesty. The Fairy boy and Junefee took each other in their arms and a long kiss ended this short tale of woe. What happened to the Wizard, I can only guess but knowing Shamus’s shillelagh, take it from me he was heavily punished. Bern.
