Fairies and Pixies.
All has been quiet for some time now. The pixies have not got up to any of their pranks and the Fairies are able to go about their work in peace. One day Her Majesty decided that, as peace now existed between the Fairies and the Pixies that each Fairy should take a Pixie and help them to understand nature as the Fairies understood it. Now one sees Fairies each with a Pixie in tow. Pixies are mischievous by nature but are not really bad. The Fairies even showed the Pixies how to use a magic wand to colour flowers and other natural things that nature provides. Her Majesty was so pleased that her idea of the Fairies taking a Pixie under their wings was going so well, that she decided to hold a dance for the two groups.
An orchestra of Toads were to play the dance music and a few Leprechauns were to attend to make sure that nothing went wrong. The Fairies and Pixies worked well together and all were looking forward to the Dance. The dance was to be held in the clearing by the old oak tree. This time the Pixies were each given a magic wand and told to arrange the clearing ready for the Dance. Mushrooms and toadstools were arranged by the Pixies and decorations were hung from the trees. A stage for the orchestra was made by the Pixies out of toadstools all arranged so that the toads with their instruments could be comfortable while playing the dance music.
All was ready for the big event and I decided to go early to the dance to make sure that all went well from the start. Slowly the clearing filled with Fairies and Pixies a few Leprechauns with their shillelaghs were standing around to make sure that all went well. From the distance we heard music it was the toad orchestra marching in step on their way to the stage where they were play the music for the dance. The toads with their weird and wonderful looking instruments slowly came into view. The leader of the toad orchestra was very large and wore a uniform that someone with a poor sense of colours had sewn together for him. I could hardly suppress a smile as I saw the orchestra each of the toads had on a many coloured uniform. It was a delight to see.
The toads with their instruments marched to the stage. I watched amusedly as they heaved their bulky instruments on to the stage. Each member of the toad orchestra had been given a large mushroom to sit on. The leader took his place in front of the orchestra and waved his baton. The toads played their instruments I heard the beginnings of a famous waltz. Then it happened the stage fell apart and the Pixies stood around laughing their heads off. The Fairies were dismayed the Pixies had betrayed their trust. They had put their heads together and hatched out this mischievous plan that when the music was playing the stage would break. Toads and their instruments were all tangled together amid the broken toadstools. Most of them were swearing and the language was not very often heard in Fairyland.
Her Majesty arrived and with a wave of her magic wand a Solid stage with the orchestra of toads carried on playing the waltz. The Pixies were sent off home, No dancing for them as they had misbehaved so badly. The Leprechauns were standing around not knowing what to do. Her Majesty had sorted out the problem of the stage and the Fairies enjoyed the dance. I myself after I had managed to stop laughing danced with Her Majesty and some of the other Fairies. The goblets of wine appeared, as did the Fairy Cakes. All in all it was a good evening the Pixies had not really managed to spoil the dance for the Fairies and now the Pixies are back to where they were before. The Fairies ignored them and I was left to wonder what mischief the Pixies would get up to next. Bern.
