Ginger Snaps.
Who has stolen my supply of Ginger snaps? I have a small stock of ginger snaps in my larder. I keep the supply well stocked up as many of the Fairies, Leprechauns and even Her Majesty like the occasional ginger snap. I suppose that I am to blame, as I do not lock my back door whenever I go into Fairyland. This has never happened before and I am a little disappointed that some one should enter my house and take my small supply of ginger snaps. I can easily replace the ginger snaps I only have to go into town and buy a few packets. To get over my frustration at being robbed I went into Fairyland to have a quiet think.
The clearing by the old oak tree was as welcoming as always and I sat myself down to think about things. My back door is not locked and it could only have been one or more of the little folk that had stolen my ginger snaps. The wise old owl looked down at me from her resting place on the bough of the old oak tree. Then she spoke, “I can see that you have a problem you are very restless today. What is the matter?” I told the owl about my small supply of ginger snaps being stolen from my larder. The wise old owl asked me if the ginger snaps were in packets or loose in my larder. I told the owl that the ginger snaps were in packets. “All we have to do then is to keep a look out for anyone throwing the empty packets away
The wise old owl then spoke to a wren that flew past and told the wren to ask all birds to keep a lookout for anyone throwing away empty ginger snap packets. Off flew the wren and soon all of the birds were looking for empty packets. The sparrows were only too pleased to help; after all every day I fed them with my breakfast rests. All the birds knew that I kept them well fed in the long winter months and were only too happy to catch the thief or thieves.
A week went by and no sign of the empty packets anywhere in Fairyland. Now all had heard of the loss of my ginger snaps and every day Fairies came by and gave me Fairy Cakes to make up for the loss of the ginger snaps. In the meantime I had gone into town and replenished my stock of ginger snaps. It was Her Majesty that found the thief she had heard of my loss and used her magic mirror. The mirror showed two Trolls opening my back garden gate and entering my house by the open back door. The Trolls were sent back to Scandinavia and now there are birds always on the look out for strangers entering my garden. Her Majesty surprised me by stocking up the two top shelves of my larder with ginger snaps.
All is back to normal no more thefts have been reported and I put a message round Fairyland by telling a robin that if anyone fancied a ginger snap they only had to ask me and I would willingly give them some of the tasty ginger snaps. The news soon spread that I had restocked on ginger snaps and often I have Fairies Leprechauns, Pixies and yes even Trolls sitting in my kitchen drinking hot sweet tea and munching my excellent ginger snaps.
