The Young Weather Forecaster.

The Young Weather Forecaster.

The weather forecast was as it usually is at this time of the year. Hardly a forecast that is right. Most people have come to accept this state of things. Not young Thomas Smith. Thomas Smith a bright eight year old decided to go into what he himself called Fairyland to ask the Fairies to make a weather forecast just for him. It was to be a secret forecast. No one not even his mother was to know about his weather forecast.

Soon it spread all around the school playground that if one wanted to know if it was going to rain or not, one should always ask Thomas Smith. Soon even the Teachers began to rely on Thomas Smith’s weather forecasts. Thomas Smith was an intelligent young man with one disadvantage he was always short of money. Parents can only afford to give small amounts that never seemed to be able to satisfy Thomas Smiths needs.

One of his friends suggested that he asked for money for telling the weather forecasts. After all it should be worth something to know if it was going to rain tomorrow. Tomorrow was the start of the weekend. Thomas Smith asked for one penny for each weather forecast and soon this young man got behind in his studies he was much too busy counting his money and thinking about what stocks and shares he should invest in.

Thomas Smith had no idea what stocks and shares were but they sounded good and he was determined to get stocks and shares cost it what it may.

This money grabbing that Thomas Smith was doing did not remain his secret for long. The Fairies noticed the change in the young man and decided not to give him any more weather forecasts. For a few days Thomas Smith got away with the weather forecasts that he himself made up. Soon his weather reports were not reliable and no one wanted to buy his guesswork prophesying.

Thomas Smith often went into Fairyland but the Fairies did not want anything to do with the dissatisfied young man that he had become. Back at school Thomas’s brain began to work again. He studied and soon his grades became better and better. Thomas Smith entered University and became one of Great Britain’s best weather forecasters. He was owing to his studies soon the best-recognised face on the countries televisions.

Thomas Smith owns a few stocks and shares but never tells anyone about Fairies. His disappointment when the Fairies did not want to have anything more to do with him he has never forgotten.
