Space Ship’s Story.

Slowly at first but then with ever increasing speed the space ship rose high in the sky. The Pilot pushed a large red button and the space ship shot with ever increasing speed until it was way out of my sight. Suddenly my ears heard the echo of the noise that the departing ship had made. The noise was a high pitched wailing down to a soft note that told all that the ship was now lost to the earth for at least five years, if all went well. If the ship was never seen again, then another ship will follow the same route collecting the space buoys set out each Monday with reports of speed engine performance, if one could call the rocket propulsion and engine and the health reports of each member of the crew.

What was so special about this space ship, first of all Oxygen as we know it was produced on board, it was a mixture of gasses sucked through a machine that had been thought out and made just for this space ship. Each member of the crew had signed a statement that they alone were responsible and that the Government could not be held responsible for any deaths or illness caused by breathing this mixture of reused gasses.

A second machine was for wastes from the digestive systems. Both Urine and other body wastes were collected and pumped through another machine this too was covered by a hand signed document written by each and everyone of the crew. Two Doctors were on board one medical and one surgical both had had special training as well as their medical studies in the Medical Universities and the various training hospitals.

The space ship and its launch had been kept secret from the general public. The story leaked out to the Press Agencies and sides and sides of the newspapers and the radio and television were occupied for weeks and weeks with details of the journey and its mission in space. Weeks about the progress that the new space ship was supposed to be making and that the members of the crew were all in good health were in fact a small team of writers were making up stories of what they thought was happening on board the Space Ship. The truth was no one had heard what was happening. No signals from the ship. the World’s government said among themselves. “No News Is Good News”. Suddenly Earth was shocked for one morning strange aircraft were flying in the skies above every country. Our space ship had been stopped by this strange race of humanoid peoples and the ships were huge and forced our Space Ship to show the way back to Earth.

A deputation came to see our Earth, and thank goodness earth was not what they were looking for. In exchange for our two machines that they had seen on board our Space ship the one for Oxygen and the other for Waste Renewals they sent space ships to all of the planets in the Galaxy of which Earth was a part. In our galaxy and with the two new Machines that we built here on Earth and traded with these strangers for many wonderful gadgets that certainly helped our industry and other things for use in the average household. They departed off to look for a suitable world that they could call their own.

We were glad when they left it was as if a menacing force was to be permanently over out heads. The Military were more pleased for they had little or no knowledge what these humanoids from space had for weapons, Could we have defended successfully our own world and if it had come to a war what would have happened no one knew anything about these people and these people made sure that things stayed that way. None of the crews came down to earth just the very small deputation that was shown our Earth. Thank Goodness they did not like what they saw and vanished overnight their Spacecraft made no noise at all the space ships just seemed to disappear. I hope they never come back. The team of Reporters that made up the news of our Space Ships progress were all exonerated by a court of law many said that   the World Government were to blame we could easily have built powerful radios that could have sent us reports for at least one year if not longer. What was so secret full asked many of the worlds population?
