My mother and my father
They gave their very best
I thought that I had nothing
And look at all the rest.
They cling to worldly objects
Of silver and the like
All I have are the memories
They seem to make it right.
They built me up from nothing
Still standing here today
I muster up the courage
To think of what to say.
When people share their insults
And shatter all of my pride
I kindly keep my mouth shut
And take it all in stride.
