Generic drugs are usually cheaper than their brand name counterparts and that's one of the reasons why people sometimes like to settle for it. Generic medications are designed and structured to function the same way as an approved brand named drug.

They work the same way in terms of safety, strength, stability, dosage form, performance characteristics, quality, and route of administration. Both generic drugs and brand name drugs use the same active ingredients and so they have the same benefits and risks.
