Listen to my feeling

Listen to my feelings,

They matter, can't you see?

Listen to my feelings,

But don't expect the same from me.

I want my voice to be the loudest,

My pain to come before your own.

And if my words should leave you hurting,

That's a burden you'll bear alone.

Don't tell me how I've made you feel,

Don't ask me to understand.

Your tears are yours to deal with,

I've got the upper hand.

My thoughts will always come before you,

My needs will always lead.

And if you're left with nothing,

That's not my concern or need.

Don't try to share your feelings,

I don't want to hear your pain.

I'll turn your words against you,

Then make you feel ashamed.

And if you cannot take it,

Well, there's the open door.

But don't expect to leave me

And come crawling back once more.

So take me as I am,

Don't try to change my ways.

I'll give you all my reasons,

But never hear what you say.

You can love me through the silence,

You can break beneath the strain.

But as long as I get what I want,

I'll never see your pain.
