Westward Wrong

What makes the disunified West think Russia will stop with Ukraine? Just because USA troops are in Romania does not mean that Putin does not have his eyes on Romania and a few other states in a line that is confining his movement into regaining The Russian empire. Power doesn't work that way; it never has and why the West believes it will now is anathema to me. Or power corrupts. It's time to get corrupt. Or at least bring out some of that corruption and undermining of states skill. Crashing economies this is not the way to go. Taking over economies is the way to go. Ask China.

.

The West is getting it wrong again. They didn't think Hitler would do what he did and he did quite a bit. Taking over nations and then forcing the population to accept your philosophy of everything is the  game and the West knows that game. The West, the colonial West knows that game very well. Blackmail, withdrawal of funding, grants manipulations, abductions. We know that game. We helped perpetuate it. China and Russia want to rule the globe, people!

.

There are 14 countries that recently joined the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and enjoy the protection of its member states. Expectations are high that Putin will not invade any of those 14 nations. The western diplomats wake up on the morning of the invasion of Ukraine and suddenly lose their concept of history and the lessons of history. Russia is in taking mode, not talking mode, is in lying mode, not conciliatory discussions mode.

.

Putin wants Europe. EU got greedy and trampled on Russia's former links with Balkan states to the point of squeezing out Russia. Competing against large blocs isn't that new to Russia, it has simply grown impatient with all of the blowback it's getting to its imperial will. That's one of the problems with dictatorships, personalities that are unbending and unyielding and narcissistic inside their own countries who allow their supreme ego to assume authority and ownership over other nations.
.

Technically, if you go back far enough, China owns large swatches of Russia. Any reason for war, and any reason for taking over any country is high argument for misinformation and fake press, a propaganda technique from way back. All you need is some power, some nukes  (bigger bow and arrows) would help, some ability to produce goods and services in your country and to trade them for the goods and services from other lands. Ask Napoleon.
.

China owns Russia if you go back far enough. Other imperial ownership of land lines get even more confused if you add in the Huns or the Romans, Alexander the great and Atilla, or Genghis Kahn. Islam held Spain for a while and a bit of France (Normandy). By those standards, Russia can take what it wants and thumb his nose at the West. Putin the Great - he has olden models, Imperial ones to admire. I find it interesting that he would take models in the Czars, but he's Russian. No need to go figure. Communist Russua is capitalist Russia devolved to Czarist Russia. It's complicated.

.

A good argument will be lain against the West for not managing the resources of the world very well. There's still a lot of hunger and want, inattention to things like droughts and floods, mass migrations of refugees, climate management, et al. But the it's relative argument is not going to hold sway as a new conquerer enters the stage after a long period of isolation and growth and planning. I wonder what border Russia will disintegrate next. I wonder how long the West will allow him to continue his campaign into territories that are relatively free Republics. It's okay, I am accustomed to being filled with wonder.

.

Picture diplomacy, image control, attempting to sway the publics of the West by using women dirty and bleeding and buildings blown where civilians live and atomic power plants that are vulnerable to war zones is one way to go. Public opinion is important yes, but public money is another issue. Washington cannot fight another war this close to the last 20 years spat with a country that we really are not altogether clear why we were there.
.

What is Ukraine to us, what are the Balkans to us? Drawing lines in the sand is one way to live I guess just not very peacefully. And it is about land and the people on it as resources to be exploited. It is about the mineral wealth that is beneath the ground. Let there be no mistaking about why. We know the answer to that one. Where is our fault and for whom. Empires of another kind must be supported with goods and services, even if it means going to war for some small distant country over a basic principle like Dominion.

.

Economic domination is China's game and they played exceptionally well on USA's dime. They know who butters both sides of their bread, they know that the European Union is for cooperation with and not for warring upon blatantly. Trade wars are all-in games: who owns all the resources, contracts, treaties, a small war spot in boardrooms is the game of the 21st century. Russia has been contained and overpowered by larger states. For Putin, this is an unreasonable state of the states.

.

What will happen? We will watch as we are powerless to do anything about it and see what developments unfurl next. As for me, at 72 years of age, I'm at the last part of the fourth quarter approaching the three minute warning and will probably not see the outcome of this little scrimmage.
.

Everyone is looking at their economic bottom line. I am so glad that economic security and prosperity is not necessarily tied to any stock market in the world. Up or down is of no consequence as it is where rich people put their money in a hide and seek game with the world taxing them now wherever they try to park their graft. Crypt-currency was created as a new haven for Trillionaires. We'll see how that turns out as we continue to watch, trusting the real news if we can find it.
