Laying awake at night,
Seeing you in my mind’s sight
Wondering if you think of me
Or am I just a distant memory?
I was so blind
I didn’t give you time
I threw it all away
And now the opinion I can’t sway
I made the mistake of the century
I was blinded by the pageantry
Now I’ll never get the chance again
And I’m wiser now than I was then
The only thing I can do
The best way to honor you
Is to move on amidst the pain
And never make that mistake again
