Whenever I am far away from home one of the first things that come to my mind are my paternal grandmother´s elaborated dishes. She knows how to cook every single Mexican dish and a lot of international dishes as well. The whole family gathers together for lunch at my paternal grandparents´ house every single Saturday and we all enjoy eating these fascinated and delicious dishes. What we all love the most is that we never know what we are going to eat that day, we just wait anxiously to get to our grandparents´ house and figure out which dish is next. Whenever my friends, for whichever reason, come to my grandparents´ house to eat lunch the taste of every single dish amazes them and everything tastes so good that my cousin´s best friend decided to eat at my grandparents´ house every Thursday. But above all, it is more than just eating. It´s what my grandfather always reminds us: the values we learn in every lunch. He told us one day about how important the family is and how they are the only persons that you can fully trust in because they will never let you down and will always support you. He says that if we schedule every single Saturday to go to eat with them, he is doing his job right, which is to teach us to always dedicate time to our family. It´s the whole thing that I love the most and miss the most whenever I´m not able to join them for lunch. It is hard for me to miss one of those gatherings because I wait the whole week to finally eat some delicious dish made by my beautiful grandma with the company of my entire family. My grandmother loves to cook for her family that much that she actually calls her granddaughters and grandsons every single Saturday to remind us that she is waiting both, anxiously and patiently, to see us all. If for some reason we couldn´t make it to lunch that day she would get sad. It´s beautiful to think in all of this because it reminds me that my family is one of the most amazing families on earth and that our grandmother is a super-grandmother that is always willing to cook in order to see her family spend some time together at a place where her daughters and sons grew up and eventually her granddaughters and grandsons as well.
