I wish for a new humanity
A humanity that can function sustainably
But I know that’s not reality
And it’s never going to be
Seems like a bad dream
I wish for a new society
A society built on quality over quantity
But I know that’s not our reality
And it’s never going to be
Seems like a bad dream
Actions speak much louder than any of our tired, rehearsed words
Our bloated and boastful ways are beyond the absurd
Drained of life by our hollow, mindless, material consumption
Needing infinite growth on a finite world equals total ruination
We turn the surreal beauty of the forests into ugly cracked cement
Until we’re all gone our self absorbed destruction won’t relent
We turn majestic rivers into flowing trash
We’ll all soon be swept away by the approaching crash
We turn our amazing oceans into boiling waste
Time is almost out for us, and soon our end we will face
Less is more
But they have more instead
Another resource sucking baby born
Another self serving head to be fed
Another young corpse to mourn
Our bitter end of everyone dead
Less is more
But they have more instead
We’re all the problem and our elimination is the solution
On the land, the sea, and the sky we install our pollution
Spread and destroy by instinct
Well on our way to going extinct
The world smells of rot when you hate your own kind
I’ve opened my eyes and there is no way to return
This dumb human society filling up with decline
For the future most humans have no real concern
It’s all about the here and now
It will all work itself out somehow
Religion teaches that there is a better place so about this one do not care
Too bad once their dead they won’t know that nothing else was ever there
Religion teaches that everything here is just doomed anyway
March on blindly, damn the future, and only live for the today
Less is more
But more they need
Another little one to drop in the cesspool
Another self-serving mouth to feed
Another baby virus destined to become a fake fool
Far too many of them, but they still carelessly breed
Less is more
But more they need
I wish for a new humanity that can function sustainably
I wish for a new society built on quality over quantity
I wish there was a better reality to wake to
I wish I had more love to send you
I wish I didn’t know what we all really are
I wish my mind had never traveled this far
Now there is no where left for me to go
I wish I didn’t know what I know
Seems like a bad dream
My sadness gets me lost in this grey haze
But again I lead myself out of the maze
Seems like a bad dream
My hate is strong and my hate they deserve
But the better sides of me I fight to preserve
Seems like a bad dream
