A candle put out in the night
It’s brilliance and purpose for a moment suspended
A burning ember on the wick trying to fight
The darkness now closing in un-amended
The glowing spark of hope fades slowly
It is as if it had never existed
Fear and darkness now reign solely
But with confusion and disgust slightly misted
What happened to the brilliant rays?
A thin wisp of smoke is all that remains
Nothing good can ever stay
Nothing good can ever stay
